Educational Opportunities offered by PR2TA

Emmett High School students have unique opportunities to

expand their educational choices by participating in the on-line

learning environment of Payette River Technical Academy.

We offer a vast array of choices for our students for all

educational genres.  In Foreign Languages we offer French,

Mandarin Chinese, German and Spanish for those that have

scheduling conflicts with the Spanish offered at the High School.

We have Interdisciplinary Humanities courses, Fashion & Interior

Design, Music Appreciation and Mythology & Folklore.  Some of

the Electives and Core courses we offer are Intro to Veterinary

Studies, Creative Writing, Digital Journalism, Sociology, Astronomy,

Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Intro to Law & Justice,

Technical Reading & Writing and Anatomy & Physiology among

others.  We offer several Dual Credit courses that students earn college credit concurrently with High School credit.  Some of the choices are Dual Credit Medical Terminology, DC Psychology, DC Fundamentals of Health Professionals, DC Sociology, DC Anatomy & Physiology, DC American Government, DC Microeconomics, DC US History, DC Speech, etc.  Students who successfully pass these courses will receive college credits from one of the following Universities or Colleges: University of Idaho, Boise State University, Northwest Nazarene University, College of Southern Idaho, College of Western Idaho, Brigham Young University Boise and Lewis & Clark State College.  All of these credits are transferrable to all Idaho Colleges and Universities and most other state post-secondary educational institutions.

Payette River Technical Academy has a state of the art computer lab set up to meet the needs of our growing student population for their on-line learning educational experiences.  We work in conjunction with Lewis & Clark State College to provide a CNA program for students interested in graduating from High School as a licensed CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).  This program is very successful.  There are some prerequisite courses that Payette River Technical Academy offers that set the groundwork for this wonderful opportunity to graduate with a license and go to work immediately.  Students complete coursework and do practicum training at one of the local nursing home facilities where students are monitored and learn under the guidance of a licensed nurse and instructor.  These courses are rigorous and the training is over several weeks of 4 to 8 hour shifts that the students put in during their evenings and weekends.  All of these courses and trainings prepare the student for the state exam they need to take as the final piece to their licensure.
