Engineering and      Technology Program

This has been a building year for both the Engineering and Technology programs. Engineering students have been studying the fundamentals of design with several hands-on projects. To date students have constructed kinetic energy cars, single wing aircraft, and truss bridge structures. The students have also gained a working understanding of the 3D modeling software Solid Works. Technology students have explored the design and construction of the personal computer, written simple video games, and constructed and programmed robotic platforms. In the upcoming weeks students in both programs will be preparing for the Skills USA Leadership competitions, and the Real World Design Challenge. Additionally the two programs will begin to share their knowledge and understanding as they develop a robotic vehicle engineered to visualize its environment, an aircraft drone able to record its flight, and a model of an alternative energy plane able to fly 200 miles in 2 hours on less than 5 dollars of electricity.
